What is New Age Music? If you ever had a chance to listen to a few New Age Music CDs, you might have wondered what the different recordings have in common. Certainly not the sound (as is the case with pop or classical or jazz music). Indeed, New Age Music sometimes sounds like classical music, and sometimes like Celtic music and sometimes it hardly sounds like music - it's just sounds... The name of the music suggests something religious but it's not necessarily the case. Some of it might be (like chanting for example) but most of it is not. Spiritual then? Well yes, I suppose most New Age musicians do feel a certain spiritual commitment - they feel in touch with the spiritual realm, and they would like to express it. Many of them probably somehow relate to the New Age movement (which is not a movement, nor an organization). (Click here to get an impression of what it is). In any case, what once used to be an alternative subculture is now a much more recognized and integrated part of the western societies. Thus it has become quite "normal" to use alternative therapies such as massage, reflexology, relaxation. Also, it is now generally accepted that New Age Music can be helpful as a way to relieve stress, for relaxation, pain relief, goal achievement etc. Which is exactly what this Online Course is all about! In this course I will show you several ways New Age Music can serve you best. If you're interested in a little bit more theory there's a good article about New Age Music here
